How we produce
The Weekly Biome

A documented editorial workflow for one article each Tuesday, developed and reviewed by the institute’s scientists.

A publication process with visible responsibility.

Each article applies the institute’s scientific principles to a specific question. The writer and scientific reviewer have distinct responsibilities.

Review previous coverage

We examine prior editions and the publication record to avoid repeating a scientific question under a different title.

Select the research question

We choose one research question each week, considering scientific relevance, evidence strength, and the scope of a meaningful article.

Search the literature

Defined search routes examine the relevant biomedical literature, including PubMed, with criteria matched to the question.

Screen and read the evidence

We document screening decisions, examine full texts, and extract the findings, methods, and limitations needed for the article.

Develop the scientific interpretation

Selected papers form an evidence set. We connect mechanisms, converging findings, disagreements, and limits into a coherent interpretation.

Write the article

A team member develops the article in the institute’s voice, explaining terminology and retaining the detail needed for scientific accuracy.

Verify and review

Claims and references are checked against their sources. Another team member reviews the scientific interpretation before release.

Publish with attribution

Each article includes a named writer, reviewer credit, inline source attribution, and full references. Material corrections or clarifications are disclosed.

Transparent editorial research

Structured searches and documented screening support the publication workflow. This process is not presented as a registered systematic review. Human and model-system evidence are distinguished, and the strength of the conclusion follows the evidence.
